Choosing a Moving Company

Hiring a Moving Company

Whether you are moving across town or across the country, relocating is one of the most stressful events of your life. Everything you own is going to be boxed up,  put on a truck, and taken on California highways, which is enough to worry anyone.  You need to make an informed decision on the mover you choose!

Getting referrals from friends and colleagues can be a good place to start.

Other resources:
– BBB (Better Business Bureau). You shouldn’t use any company that has complaints in the double digits (and they exist).

– PUC (Public Utilities Commission). All moving companies operating in California are required to be licensed by the PUC.  If they don’t have a company name, web site or license number displayed do not use them.

– CMSA (California Moving & Storage Association). I would recommend always choosing a company that is a member. They also have helpful tips on their site.
