Long-Distance FAQs

Your Questions Answered!

Are you sub-contracting out my job to someone else?
No. We are an Agent for Wheaton Van Lines, which in short means we are the same company.

What does it mean to be an Agent?
Moving companies operate very similar to how FedEx or UPS operates. National transportation companies bring in Local Agents (Companies) to service customers across the US and around the world. Bringing in Local Agents is how they get a broad reach across every state and into other countries.

Why Wheaton Van Lines?
We believe Wheaton Van Lines best aligns with our core values in how they treat their Agents, Drivers, and Customers. Wheaton is picky about who they bring under their umbrella. Not only did we interview many Van Lines to see how they operate, but Wheaton has been known to turn down and even fire moving companies that are not up to their standards. This means we know we can trust the other Agents and Drivers in our network to service our customers the same as we would locally.

Is All Reasons a Broker?
No! You want to make sure to hire a “real” moving company and not a Broker. A Broker does not have their own trucks or employees. A Broker simply sells the move to random companies or people, and you have no control over who shows up at your door or whether they show up at all. They have limited liability and lots of loopholes to ensure they don’t have to pay on a claim should you need to file one.

Note: Brokers are illegal in California but hard to regulate due to the long reach of the internet.

Once I book, who do I talk to about my job?
All Reasons takes your move very seriously. We do not just book your move and turn it over to Wheaton headquarters to manage. We keep things in-house. All Reasons is with you from start to finish; from the first phone call to coordinating the pickup to the unload. We are your point of contact.

How long will it take to get my stuff once it’s loaded on a truck?
It depends on the time of the year and how far you are going. If you are moving from California to Oregon, it’s going to take less time than if you are going to Florida. Your move coordinator will be able to assist you with this.

How do you charge for a long-distance move?
All Reasons charges by weight and we do our best to be as accurate as we can based on the information we are given. In the end, your shipment is weighed in the truck and if the weight is less you could end up with a refund.

Note: There is a minimum weight for all shipments, which changes depending on the time of year and where you are going. Your Move Coordinator will discuss this with you.

How am I insured?
We insure each and every move with full-value protection. This means items are insured against loss or damage based on the level of protection selected at the time of the move.

Are the items I pack insured?
When packing yourself, we tell everyone to “use a lot of paper.” You want to make sure items in the box are well protected against normal moving and bumps in the road during transport. If you pack your own items, the moving company will only be liable if the moving company did something negligent

(i.e., dropped the box). Example: If you pack a box of fine chine dishware and a cup is broken during the unloading process, the insurance company will deny the claim because they will assume you didn’t wrap the piece well enough in the box.

Do you ship cars?
Yes! Please provide us with the make, model, and year of the car and we can provide you with a quote.
