When
packing your items, please remember the basic rule of thumb:
"If
it is small enough to fit in a box, put it in one."
Unless prior arrangements have been made, you will need to be completely packed and ready to move when our trucks arrive. Packing while movers are loading slows the process down and is NOT advisable. If you received a written estimate this will cause the estimate to go over, and you will be charged accordingly. If you find you are not going to be ready, contact our office at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled move.
Customers are expected to be present during loading and unloading. You will need to do
a walk-through at the end of the load, and our movers will need direction
with furniture placement at your new location.
Armoires: Must be emptied.
Beds: Will be disassembled and reassembled by our movers. If mattresses are being stored, you can request mattress bags for an additional charge.
Boxes: Need to have sealed lids, and must not be over filled — open top and overfilled boxes do not stack. Label both the top and sides of the box, so they are easy to read
when they are stacked on top of one another. Shoe boxes are not considered "packing boxes"; shoe-size boxes are to be packed inside larger boxes. While packing, proper padding should be used. All Reasons will not be responsible for items not properly padded inside boxes. Make sure to put heavier items into book boxes. If they are put into large boxes, it can result in the bottom of the box opening up, or they can be too heavy
to lift.
Carpet: Carpet mask can be provided for an additional charge. One roll is 50 feet.
Couches/Chairs: If they are light in color, we can shrink wrap these items for an additional charge.
Desks: Must be emptied.
Dressers: Can remain full if it can handle its own weight — do not leave a dresser full that is not sturdy. Do NOT pack books, pictures, or breakables in drawers . These items can make the dresser too heavy to lift and may damage it.
End Tables: Small end tables and nightstands can usually stay full. Please remove breakables.
Entertainment Centers: Must be emptied.
Filing Cabinets: Two-drawer
cabinets can stay full. For anything larger, please contact our office.
Flammable Items : We cannot pack or move flammable or hazardous materials.
Garbage Bags: Not good for packing since they do not stack.
Lamps and Shades: Lamp shades MUST be packed in a box. Floor/pole lamps do not
travel well. They can be blanket-wrapped, but we prefer they are packed in boxes.
All Reasons will not be responsible or held liable for damage to lamps not packed
in boxes.
Pictures: Small pictures should be wrapped in paper and packed in a box; larger pictures should be in picture boxes. If you do not have picture boxes, the movers can wrap
pictures in moving blankets for protection. Paintings must be in picture boxes or paper
pads.
Plants: Small
plants should be put in boxes; larger ones can be loaded at the end
of the truck. If a plant is fragile,
do not put it in the moving van, as we cannot guarantee a limb won't
snap off. Breakable plant containers must be packed in boxes. We
are not responsible
for breakage if they are not packed.
Stereos, Televisions, and Computers: These items can be blanket-wrapped if you don't have the original boxes. If possible, please have these items unplugged prior to our arrival. If you have a big screen television (50 inches or larger), please let us know ahead of time.
Wardrobe Boxes: Will be provided the day of the move for your hanging clothes.
Particle Board Furniture: Furniture
pieces that you purchased in a box and assembled in your
house were shipped that way for a reason. Under most circumstances
they can be safely moved, however All
Reasons will not be responsible or held liable for damage in transit
to particle board furniture of any kind. |
