Are
you licensed?
Yes--All Reasons' license
number is CAL-T 189789.
Moving companies are regulated by the Public Utilities Commission (PUC), which
requires us to include a license number on all forms of advertising, including
our trucks. Any moving company advertising without this number is not a licensed
mover and is operating illegally in California. In some cases, companies have
an ICC number instead of a CALT number. This is legal but must also be displayed.
Are you insured?
• Your
belongings: when using a licensed moving company in California,
your items are automatically
insured for $.60 per pound per article at no additional cost.
However, there are two additional types
of protection that can be purchased:
1) actual cash value: depreciated
type of protection
2) full value: replacement protection
• General
Liability: All Reasons carries general liability insurance and can
provide a certificate
of insurance to anyone requesting a copy. • Workers'
Compensation: all businesses operating in the state of California
are required
to carry workers' compensation. Again, we can provide certificates
of insurance
upon request.
Can I get references for your
company?
Owner Kim Tucker's take on references is "even a bad moving
company can find someone to give them a good reference." So
while All Reasons does have many references to offer (see our Testimonials page),
we suggest you start by calling the Better Business Bureau (BBB:
408-278-7400), or click on the BBB link featured on our home page. The BBB
can tell you if there have been any consumer complaints filed against
a given moving company. The Public Utilities Commission (PUC: 415-703-1402)
also provides similar information, including verifying that a company is operating
with a valid license.
Thanks to our well-trained team of
movers, All Reasons has established an outstanding reputation
in the Silicon Valley. In fact, the majority of our moves come from
referrals and repeat customers. All Reasons was also
listed in "The West" section of the San Jose Mercury
News as one of the "Best Movers in Silicon Valley".
How
long is my move going to take?
That depends on a number of factors, including:
• what size residence
or office you have (i.e. how many rooms, square footage)
• how many items you
have to move
• how easy or difficult
your items are to move
• the distance from
your front door to the truck
• if there are stairs
or an elevator
• if you are already
packed and ready to move
• if we are doing
any packing or unpacking
Everyone's home is furnished differently, so it's difficult to
say exactly without seeing what you have. There are things you
can do to cut down some of the time. The more prepared you
are, the less time your move will take.
Do you move oversized
items, like pianos?
Yes, however you
must provide advanced notice for these items. Please be prepared to
provide us with size information (for pianos: spinet, baby or full
grand, upright, player, etc.), as well as whether there
are stairs at the load or unload locations.
Do you move hot tubs/spas?
Yes, however our hourly rate
does not include moving a spa. Because this service requires
a special dolly and flatbed truck, it is an additional charge separate
from the move.
Prerequisites
for moving hot tubs/spas:
All Reasons does not deal
with electrical, so you must make arrangements to have the electrical
unhooked and the hot tub drained prior to our arrival. For standard-sized
hot tubs, we require 40 feet of unobstructed width and 9 feet of
unobstructed height at both the load and unload locations.
Please contact us for additional information regarding moving your hot
tub.
Do you move furniture for the
purpose of recarpeting or installing hardwood floors?
Yes, we can move items
from one area of your home or office to another, so the installers
have plenty of room to work. If you don't have space to put your
furniture during the project, we can bring your items
to our warehouse for temporary storage. When the project is
complete, we will bring the items back and put them in their proper
location.
What can you do to protect my
light-colored furniture?
Furniture will be wrapped with
moving blankets. If you would like your items to be wrapped
in plastic, you may request that we shrinkwrap your furniture for
an additional charge.
What can you
do to protect my carpets from dirt?
You may request carpetmask (plastic with a
sticky underside) for an additional charge.
Can
we get wardrobe boxes prior to our move?
No, we cannot bring wardrobes in advance because we use them
on a daily basis.
We know how overwhelming packing can be, and we want our customers
to focus on all the other things that need packing. On
the day of the move, we will simply move some furniture
out of the bedroom and bring in the wardrobes, which can be loaded
quickly. |
